Anesthesia, Pneumonia, Pressure Ulcers, OH MY!

There are so many complications that come with a hip fracture; the side effects that come from hospitalization are ghastly. Theseare among some of the major complications that can be caused after a hip fracture:

*Anesthesia: Most surgical procedures require this. There could be problems with medical complications, drugs used, and even the anesthesia.

*Pneumonia:Bed rest increases your chance of developing pneumonia. After the hip fracture, a lot of rest is needed.

*Pressure Ulcers (Bed Sores): When lying down in bed due to the hip fracture, bed sores happen due to pressure against the skin and lack of blood flow.

*Thrombophlebitis (Blood Clots): This is also caused from lying down and remaining still. They typically form on the legs where the greatest pressure is exerted from the body.

*Mental Confusion: No one likes hospitals. When someone is admitted they may experience stress, different behavior and sometimes become depressed.

What if you could avoid all of this?

There is a way to reduce the probability of experiencing a hip fracture due to a fall! ComfiHips® does that. In a 387 bed facility that started using ComfiHips® in 2009, ComfiHips® reduced their hip fractures to less than ¼ of 1% on 818 falls! It was a great show and people admired the fact that we were out to help protect and sustain the quality of life in elderly people. Stay tuned to find out where ComfiHips® will be exhibited next.

Hip Fracture Awareness

Do you know that up to 25% of people die within the first year after a hip fracture?

Do you know that someone turns 65 years of age every 8 seconds in the U.S.?

Do you know that 1 in 3 people over the age of 65 will fall every year?

Do you have a loved one, parent, grandparent, resident or someone you care for who is at risk of falling?

There are so many reasons why people fall: slippery floors, walking with socks, vision issues, balance issues, osteoporosis, mobility issues, lack of concentration........and the list goes on and on.

Hip fracture prevention has been around for years but the most innovative and revolutionary hip protector that is taking the fall prevention market by storm is here:

Our WOW factor?

Each pad weighs less than 25 potato chips yet absorbs up to 87.2% of impact on a lateral fall!

People say that ComfiHips® are so comfortable, they forget they are even wearing them.

Iris Onrot was recently interviewed on CBS12 News by David Weir for the South Florida Business Report. Please take a moment to watch the interview:
